EXEMPLARS

Population health is integral to patient care, and I feel that providing culturally competent, fully integrated evidence-based practice is a strength. I feel that with time, I will be able to design and deliver a specific intervention based on my specific client base, and this is an area in which I can grow.

The CDC sexually transmitted disease modules allowed me to learn how to properly identify common sexually transmitted infections, how to treat the disease and when to follow up. This provides options for providing clines centered care and population care as well as education on prevention of these related diseases and infections.

The rate that autism is currently diagnosed is astounding. As this is a growing health concern, my women's health and family care presentation discussed ways to monitor the percentage of patients diagnosed with a developmental concern vs those who pursued early intervention. This met the essential by focusing on planning, evidence-based intervention, and population-based care.

Gate control theory discussed current theories on pain transmission and how other alternative methods of pain management way work. There is currently an opioid epidemic and this paper discussed the importance of understanding how pain pathways work. This paper discussed appropriate management and delivery of evidence-based practices that promote healthcare for patients who have acute or chronic pain.

This documentary reviewed "The Bleeding Edge", a film on Netflix. This film discusses how medical devices are approved. I chose this topic to address options for delivering care to the patient who may have had complications related to surgery that may impact their life in multiple ways.
