PERSONAL MISSION STATEMENT
Cura Personalis - Care for the entire person.Â
I believe that I have been called by Christ to provide the best quality care that I can provide. I believe that in my training, studying, and patient contact, that God has given me a strong mind, heart, and hands to do His work. I believe that providing care for the patient means caring for the entire person, not just their current illness or chronic condition.Â
My personal mission is to provide care for the entire person, to build a relationship of trust with my patient while respecting their wishes about their healthcare and working with the patient to create a healthcare goal that is both realistic and achievable. I hope that in my practice that I may be a valuable resource to my community, my patients, their families, and their loved ones.
CORE VALUES
King University has several core values and professional pillars that are integral to my personal and professional development as a provider.
Kings's mission is to build meaningful lives of achievement and cultural transformation in Christ. I have a deep-rooted faith in Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior. I believe The Lord has blessed me with a thinking mind that I may critically think about the patient condition, a loving and gracious heart that I may see the patient as more than just their illness, and strong hands that I may do His work through them. I believe that my personal belief strongly encompasses the professional pillars and core values upon which King university is based.
I can promise to serve my community with integrity, providing the most competent and thorough care that I can provide. I will be accountable for all my action, as these impact not only myself but the patient and their loved ones. Through service, I will not only serve the Lord but also though who seek care. I will always be civil and show compassion, as every person deserves to be treated with the utmost respect and dignity.
SERVICE LEARNING PROJECT
Service learning is a fantastic way to give back to the community, as well as demonstrate our continued knowledge growth and competency. During the summer of 2018, our group provided a gardening activity for members of an adult day-care location. The members thoroughly enjoyed their time, we learned about what it takes to give back, and overall thoroughly enjoyed ourselves while contributing to the community. We were able to demonstrate how gardening can improve symptoms of depression in those with advanced onset dementia through evaluation tools provided to the caregiver. Although we did not evaluate for effectiveness during this encounter, we hypothesized that there would be a generalized improvement in mood based on feedback received from the day-care employees.
